Memories - Part 1 (People)

The rather short journey has come to an end. Tomorrow is my last class at Cornell. It’s simply unbelievable. With a good job in hand, all courses finished satisfactorily, it is the happiest ending I could’ve thought of… and yet, I don’t want to go. ‘Bittersweet’ was the right word Lisa chose when describing the ending.

Here are a few people I met at Cornell whom I will never forget:

  1. Chandra ‘Bhai’ : My closest friend @ Cornell. So close in fact that I call him Bhai. He is a gem at heart. He was the first person I met when I came to Cornell and he has taken care of me like an elder brother ever since. Chandra Bhai, I can’t express thank you enough in words.

  2. Lisa: Lisa is what comes closest to ‘Mom’. It pains me to take leave of her. She’s taken so much care of me… if I want to stay more, she’s the chief reason. What more can I say? We’ve spent some of my most memorable moments at Cornell together.

  3. Prof. Bhas: One of the most enthusiastic persons I've ever seen. Had a superb time together over the summer! I still miss your food (and beer too! ;) )

  4. ‘The weak learners’ : i.e. Aakash (note the double A), Mayank (surprisingly a Gandhi, but doesn’t live up to the second name ;) ), Biz and Venkat (plus of course me and Chandra). We had a lot of fun in my first semester. Mayank’s style of a photograph with one hand on chin and ‘solid eye contact’ and AJ’s ‘pata nahi yaar’ style are inimitable.

  5. Swati : The geekiest girl I’ve ever seen in my life. We spent some nice time together over the summer and fought and laughed and sang during the secutiy project.

  6. Ritesh urf ‘Makhu mobile’ : This guy has the potential to speak forever on cell phone and consult everyone about any funda of life. ‘Seattle ke baba’ is another term for him.

  7. Manu urf Manu Manchurian: This guy has a style of his own. ‘Naukri chahiye yaar’….

  8. Prashant ‘conductor’ Kakad: Dude sings really well. Dances well too. Wonder why or how he is an engineer rather than a singer/actor.

  9. Manpreet: The sweetest guy I’ve ever known.

  10. Anisa: She’s one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever known.

and last, but not the least:

10. Prof. Arms : Of my 30 credits, I ended up doing 13 credits under him. I find myself as his younger version. Our ideas, our likings match really well. Will miss his British accent!
